PathLog Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how PathLog (the “App”) handles information when you use it. PathLog is designed as a personal journal for recording places, moments, photos, videos, and related notes.

Before publishing: Replace the developer contact placeholder below and verify this policy against the released app, its SDKs, and its actual data flows. This page is a draft and is not a substitute for that review.

1. Information you add

Depending on the features you use, you may create or import journal entries containing photos, videos, dates, location information, notes, recognized text, and translations. This content may be personal or sensitive. The App uses it to provide journal, search, OCR, translation, and related features.

2. Storage and on-device processing

PathLog is intended to keep your journal content on your device and provides on-device OCR and translation features. Some translation language models may be downloaded when you request a language that is not yet available locally.

The exact handling of content, model downloads, temporary files, backups, and diagnostics depends on the app implementation and the services it uses. Do not assume that all information always remains on your device until these behaviors have been verified for the released version.

3. Permissions and location

The App may request camera, media/photo, video, microphone, or location permissions when needed for features you choose to use. Location tagging is optional and can be controlled in the App’s settings where supported. If you grant location access, the App may use location information to associate a place with a journal entry.

You can manage app permissions through your device’s system settings. Denying a permission may make the related feature unavailable.

4. OCR, translation, and downloaded models

OCR and translation are provided to help you recognize and translate text. OCR and translation may process text you choose to submit or scan. PathLog supports offline processing for supported languages; translation models may be downloaded on demand.

Before release, confirm whether any OCR or translation library sends content, usage data, or diagnostics to a third party. If so, identify the provider, the information transmitted, and the purpose here.

5. Import, export, and sharing

The App may let you import journal data and export entries or share exported files. When you choose to export or share content, the resulting file may contain information from your journal, including text, media, location, or metadata included in the export. You control whether and with whom you share that file. Once shared with another app or person, their handling of the information is governed by their own practices.

6. Purchases

PathLog may offer a one-time in-app purchase to unlock paid features. Purchases are processed through Google Play. Google may process purchase and transaction information under its own privacy policy and terms. PathLog does not ask you to provide payment card details directly in the App.

7. Third-party services and data sharing

The App may rely on third-party components or services for app distribution, billing, model delivery, crash reporting, diagnostics, or other technical functions. The specific services and information they process must be confirmed from the released app’s dependencies and configuration.

PathLog does not sell your personal information. Any data shared with service providers, if applicable, should be limited to what is needed for the relevant function and described accurately in the final policy.

8. Retention and deletion

Journal content is retained on your device until you delete it or remove the App, subject to device storage, operating-system backup, and any export or sharing actions you take. Deleting the App may not remove files you exported or shared, or copies retained by device backups or other apps. Confirm the App’s actual deletion and backup behavior before publication.

9. Children’s privacy

PathLog is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to a service associated with the App, contact the developer using the contact information below.

10. Security

We use the protections provided by the App and the Android platform to help safeguard information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your device and use its available security features.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the App’s features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top indicates when this version took effect. Material changes should be communicated as required by applicable law.
